On Saturday, July 16th join us in hosting Akil Palanisamy, MD, a Harvard-trained physician, author, speaker, and holistic medicine expert in integrative and functional medicine. His new book, “The Paleovedic Diet: A Complete Program to Burn Fat, Increase Energy, and Reverse Disease”, integrates the best of conventional and holistic medicine.

Dr. Akil seamlessly blends the Paleo diet with Ayurveda and the latest research in nutrition and medicine to present a customized roadmap to perfect health. He will be presenting a detailed program of foods, herbs, and supplements to heal the digestion, strengthen immunity, and increase energy and vitality.

The event will include a wholesome lunch.
Price: $45

From the Western medical perspective, Dr. Akil will explain the concept of leaky gut syndrome or increased intestinal permeability. This is the root cause of all autoimmune diseases and many diseases in general. He will correlate this concept with imbalanced Agni from the Ayurvedic medical perspective. He will talk a lot about the microbiome, which is the group of beneficial bacteria in the intestine that help regulate the immune system, the digestion, and chronic inflammation.

Finally he will include concepts from functional medicine, a branch of integrative medicine that seeks to optimize the function of different organ systems, as pertains to healing the gut and the digestive system. Concepts from both functional medicine and Ayurvedic medicine will be integrated to create the comprehensive gut healing program.
